Man, how on earth could I forget one of the most important C’s in business? One of my readers sent me a message last week and asked me this question:

How about the C of control, Erik?

How could I forget good old control? It’s a brain fart. It’s an omission. It’s also proof that I use my creativity to write these insights, with my own personal notes as a reference. EI, that is. Not AI. Erik’s intelligence and no Artificial Intelligence. It’s just an honest oversight and nothing more.

But now that I’ve touched on the topic of control, I do have a few thoughts. Here’s my most important belief.

You can’t grow without giving up control. Especially not when you want to grow exponentially. When you aim to double your results, whatever they may be, there’s still control.

If you want to 10x your results, you must give up control. Innovation, experimentation, breakthrough thinking, thinking outside the box, and creativity do not happen when you hold on to control and the status quo.

Control is a myth.

With the pace of change we’re all experiencing, it’s impossible to maintain control. Embracing uncertainty and ambiguity eliminates unnecessary stress and opens the door to new possibilities and growth.
