Return on Kindness
Story #52 in 2024.
I did it. Consistently, every week on Friday at 8 am CET, you received my Insight.
Officially, this is the last story of the year and the last story before the editing process begins. 52 stories, with each at least 1000 words. Sufficient for a good book. Before the introductions, a summary and powerful questions will be added to each of the four sections and each chapter.
Next week, there will be one more Insight that ends 2024 and starts 2025. That Insight is my reflection on my year and my intentions and hopes for 2025.
This year, I addressed self-mastery, being an effective leader, building a high-performing team, and designing and delivering a winning culture.
The content is divided into four sections, twelve chapters, and one Insight per week. It starts with highly individualized personal insights on how to master oneself and then moves on to building, delivering, and learning with culture.
I end with a concept, value, belief, principle, habit, or behavior: Kindness.
Kindness is one of the most underestimated leadership qualities in the business world. It is a differentiator, and there is something like a return on Kindness.
Kindness is one of the most misunderstood and underestimated leadership qualities in business.
To understand the concept of Kindness, let’s start with a few key questions to consider:
- How do you intentionally model Kindness in your leadership style and encourage your team to do the same?
- How do you create an environment where vulnerability and Kindness are valued and encouraged among team members?
- How do you develop emotional intelligence and empathy within yourself and your team as critical leadership skills?
- How do you ensure that Kindness translates into actionable behaviors, such as resolving conflicts, addressing injustices, or supporting team members in need?
- How do you inspire your team to see Kindness as an individual responsibility and a shared, collective mission?
