Moon Shot
Any journey starts with an ambition. Every ambition starts with a first step towards. Every first step means putting one foot in front of the other and moving.
JFK’s dream of putting a man on the moon started with him saying he wanted to do so. Here’s a paragraph from his speech:
“We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills. After all, that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.”
From Tiger Woods’ dream to become the world number one, which started with a single golf shot, to Siffan Hassan, the female athlete who won bronze medals at the 5k, 10k, and gold at the Paris 2024 marathon, after dreaming of winning medals at these three distances, to my own wish to run the New York City marathon, which began four years prior by starting to run and lose weight, these are just a few examples of individuals who started with a dream and took the first step towards it.
Yes, I indeed put myself in the same category as JFK, Woods, Hassan, and Zatopek. But so can you.
They are people with a dream. Dreams will never come true when you don’t start.
