We were sitting in a meeting room in a brick-layered hotel in the picturesque harbor of Portland, Maine.
Ready for an inspiring conversation that would significantly influence my vision and beliefs regarding leadership.
If you’ve never been to Portland, I highly recommend you put it on your list, especially in autumn when the leaves are turning. It’s flat-out gorgeous. Just don’t mix it up with Portland, Oregon, the state home to Nike. That’s on the West Coast. Portland, Maine, is on the East Coast.
Portland, Maine, is known for being Maine, i.e., progressive, lobster roll, Route 1 to Canada, LL Bean, Hannaford Brothers supermarkets, and probably many more. It’s just a fun place to be creative.

A powerful word that starts with a C.
Just like curiosity, care, courage, conversation, change, consistency, connection, conflict, consciousness, chatGPT, confusion, clarity, conciseness, confidence, contemplation, and content. And let’s not forget the importance of character, commitment, communication, and competence.
We met in Portland with a few similarly spirited leaders from the Learning and development area and some business leaders to discuss leadership development.
