Be curious. Not judgmental.
“Be curious. Not judgmental.”
This quote originates from the Ted Lasso show — a show about an American Football coach who becomes a ‘normal’ football coach in England. In the show, Ted often shares his wisdom with the phrase, ‘Be curious, not judgmental.’
Massive success. Even with people who hate watching football. Everybody cried when season three ended. It looked like the end. Until they recently announced a fourth season, and all fans went wild.
Of course, it’s a feel-good show.
A charming coach who becomes massively successful with a small village football team. Good characters, emotional stories, intriguing twists, humor, sadness, and wisdom.
When I wrote last week about inclusive leadership and then reflected on what my next story would be, Ted Lasso came to mind. Although the screenplay may be unrealistic, there are still many valuable leadership lessons to be learned from the series.
Which is also why some people loved watching it. It’s not just entertainment; it’s also a longing to live your dreams, foster human connection, relish Cinderella stories, and do good in a hostile world.
